What a generator can and can't do for your lotto ticket

Korea's 6/45 (로또 6/45) has exactly C(45,6) = 8,145,060 combinations. That's the denominator the official Korean lottery (동행복권) publishes, and it's the same whether you pick numbers yourself, let the store's terminal quick-pick for you, or click "generate" here. A generator cannot lower the denominator. What it can affect is your expected payout conditional on winning, because the prize pool is split across all tickets that hit the same numbers.

That's the only edge available. Human-picked tickets over-cluster on numbers ≤ 31 (birthdays), patterns like 1-2-3-4-5-6, and numerically meaningful dates — a 2010 Cha & Kim study of Korean 로또 tickets and similar Western work show these combinations are picked 3–10× more often than a uniform draw would. If you happened to win with 1-2-3-4-5-6, you'd historically split the jackpot with thousands of people. A random generator gives you roughly uniform coverage across 1–45, so a win is more likely to be unshared. This tool uses Math.random() to sample 6 distinct integers in [1, 45].

Boundary where this stops being enough: for the actual Korean lotto draw, 동행복권 uses a mechanical ball machine with certified, audited hardware — not any software RNG — precisely because a software bug in a billion-dollar-stakes draw is unacceptable. For your ticket, Math.random() is fine. For a real drawing, you need a certified HRNG and a public audit, which no in-browser tool provides.
